| Round II: Certified Knockout The DJ Project Certified Knockout was our second experiment in virtual music collaboration. Along the way, we learned many things. First, technology is a tool, but not a salvation. If you're not organized in the real world, no piece of technology is going to straighten things out for you. Second, we (re)learned that musical collaboration is an amazing way to break down barriers, bridge territories and inspire confidence. Oakland really represented for The DJ Project on this release. Unity High School participants got swept up in the entrepreneurial spirit of hip-hop, taking the initiative to print and sell T-shirts at the record release party that they rocked like seasoned vets. And DJ Project alumni Sin and Merk made cameos on this record, putting their spin on the meaning of war in "The Pledge of Allegiance". Have a listen! |
