Devolutionary Theory CD

The DJ Project

In Spring, 2002, ten San Francisco teenagers and young adults gathered for 90 days to collaborate and create their own CD.

Under the guidance of acclaimed hip-hop artists Azeem (Spearhead, VU) and DJ Zeph (WideHive, VU), these participants were asked to explore their identities and set their personal histories to a hip-hop soundtrack. World-renowned musicians including Leon Mobley (Ben Harper), David Boyce (Broun Fellinis) and DJ Quest passed through the studio doors to share their experiences and communicate musically with these young disciples.

The result is The DJ Project Volume II: Devolutionary Theory, a diverse collection in content and style, reflecting the wide range of personalities represented on this compilation. From Frisco trunk funk to sweet poems of self-love, this DJ Project release captures the raw energy and poignant observations of today's talented youth.
